This year, The Silk Concept aims to create its first clothing collection that glorifies cruelty free homegrown silk by combining it with Assamese tea culture. By tapping the astounding reach of Assamese tea, we want to focus on mixing handcrafted natural textiles with a palette of herbal dyes, in order to elevate the existing imagery of Assam.
We are working towards processes that are indigenous and humane, in order to not only spread awareness about Assamese Eri Silk, but to bring forth a lifestyle that not only existential but ethical at the same time. Furthermore, by taking inspiration from the tea plantation workers, we are trying to move towards a collection that is more gender-fluid in its approach by being minimal yet functional at the same time.
Using colors that are extracted from various types of tea and other elements native to Assam, we hope to create pieces that are experimental, size friendly, timeless.
Pieces to evoke a sense of individuality
